Valuations are available for different purposes in various forms, prepared by the professionally qualified staff at Peter Francis. Peter Francis employs a team of professionally qualified valuers who offer a range of different valuation services from our Salerooms in Carmarthen and across Wales.

Online Valuation

Valuation Days

FREE valuation days are held at our Carmarthen salerooms by appointment only. Our regular sessions are:

Every Thursday (10:00–13:00) — with Nigel Hodson ASFAV (Fine Art & Pictures, Welsh Art and selected specialist items).
Every other Friday (10:00–12:00 & 14:00–16:00) — with Ian Taylor (Jewellery, Gold & Silver and items of virtue).
Our stamp and postcard valuer is available from 10:00 to 12:30 on a Friday.

If you’re unsure which session to book, or you have items in other categories, please ring the office for advice. If you’re unable to attend on the days above, you can also request an appointment during ordinary office hours, subject to valuer availability.

Home Visits

For customers who have a large collection of items, we offer home visits where a valuer can assess your valuables with a view to consigning items into a Peter Francis sale. There is a standard call-out charge of £30 to cover time and travelling expenses.

Valuation for Inheritance Tax + Probate

Probate valuations are prepared in accordance with HMRC IHT 407, Customs & Excise forms and are based on fair market auction values as at the date of death. Fees do apply for this type of written valuation and are based on a minimum charge of £350 + VAT, subject thereafter to an hourly rate on site of £175 + VAT. Insurance Valuation

Fees are charged for preparing detailed valuations which are acceptable to all major Insurance Companies. Photography and detailed descriptions are part of this service. Please call (01267) 233456 for more details and a no-obligation quotation.

Family Division, Capital Gains Tax + Insurance

Written valuations can be prepared for Divorce, Insurance and Taxation purposes and scale fees will apply. Estimated costs will be agreed in advance. Quotations are free and bear no obligation.
