Review of 2020

That was the year that was!

Here we are very close to Christmas now, all sales having taken place and, rather unbelievably, now cataloguing our first sale of 2021!

What a tough year 2020 has been for all with the problems Covid-19 has thrown at us and still is causing us more concerns as we move into the New Year. The three month complete lockdown and subsequent restrictions have put us all under pressure in the saleroom and our staff have been amazing in coping with new systems, adapting our procedures and continually being aware of keeping both ourselves and our clients safe.

The auctions, despite all these considerable problems, have continued at a frantic pace with remarkable results across the board. All sales have been online only, using two platforms which were, usefully, both in place before lockdown! Having used for many years we added this year as part of taking on their entire back office system. This has proved excellent and very easy to use, not needing another member of staff on sale day and simple enough for the boss to manage! Both these platforms are bringing many bidders to us, and, in the absence of buyers in the saleroom, are giving us great results in all price ranges. Despite this success we do hope to welcome buyers back into our premises on sale days soon – all the auctioneers do miss your happy, smiling faces and a bit of banter!

Our Valuers continue to be out and about (socially distancing of course) and the weekly Valuation Days are as busy as ever, but by appointment these days. The vans are almost constantly on the road collecting consignments for us from all over Wales and sometimes beyond. This dedicated service is a real plus for us and our clients being at reasonable cost and entirely in our control.

As we go into 2021 we hope for happier times for all and trust and believe we will continue to be as busy as we always are, returning great results for our vendors, selling lots all round the world, from the “best little saleroom in the West!”

With thanks for the continuing support of all our clients.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all at Peter Francis.
