For the second time in as many months sharp eyed internet buyers spotted a gem in the auction in Carmarthen last week. A rare 17th Century Japanese figure, discoloured with nicotine and with a big chip, was part of a mixed lot in the fortnightly Antiques & Collectibles Sale which raced away to make £14,674* against competition both online and in the saleroom. The buyer was London based.
Just a month ago in the December Fine Art & Antiques Sale at Peter Francis a group lot of Stoneware pottery items, all considered German, included a rare 17th Century Fulham pottery flagon and this was also spotted by online specialists to make £25800*.
These spectacular results once again prove how important the online photographs and catalogues are in any sale, wherever you are in the country.
Fortnightly auctions continue throughout 2018 all illustrated and online at www.peterfrancis.co.uk with the Spring Fine Sale on the 21st March and specialist online sales during the year.
