Soggy Saleroom Saga: Part II
Two weeks on from the high water mark in the saleroom, Peter Francis Auctioneers are in a completely different place – literally! After another week of huge effort and some considerable stress the saleroom and offices are completely empty. Specialist cleaners have now started work to give the premises what has been christened a ‘wash and blow dry’! This will take another few weeks to complete to the satisfaction of the insurance company.
We have moved into offices upstairs and are beginning to function more normally. Valuers are out making calls and new enquiries and instructions are being taken. The van is also out collecting lots for the next sales. Free valuation days have continued on Fridays.
As this normality (of sorts) begins to return we and our advisors are evaluating and quantifying the loss. We will be in touch with all affected clients to confirm compensation amounts within the next week to ten days. Claims can then move forward.
As the saleroom starts to smell better and dry out we will be getting contractors standing by ready to paint and decorate, lay new carpets and do all other repairs needed. It is our aim to be back holding sales as soon as possible, even before Christmas but in the New Year at the latest.
Once again I must congratulate and thank all our staff, who have worked tirelessly to achieve so much in such a short space of time. Their motivation and energy seems boundless. Nothing would have happened without them.
Lastly another word about the customers and friends of the saleroom who have been in touch to offer help, good wishes, encouragement and in a number of cases funding to help us set back on our feet. All of this is so much appreciated and rest assured, we will be back doing what we know best in a very short time.
