Vintage Fashion Auction Round Up

We were very pleased and encouraged by the results of our first ever vintage fashion auction. Star lots were an embroidered green Chinese jacket together with a Chinese court robe which made £370* and a gold brocade 1950’s Christian Dior cocktail dress that made £310*. The best-selling accessory was predictably the black leather Hermes bag that made £280*.

As seen by the highest selling lots both designer fashion and Asian robes/kimonos sold well, as did the sapphire mink fur coat that made £230*. The two lots that sold for most over estimate were: a collection of vintage fur collared coats that included a black astrakhan collar 1940’s dress coat made by Bradley’s and a velvet Aquascutum coat with fox fur collar that made £230* and a collection of vintage shoes that included some 1940’s reptile skin platform heels that went for £185*.

We were delighted that we managed to attract buyers from all over the country and had two successful viewings for the sale in Carmarthen. There was a particular demand for 1940’s-60’s clothing which is an area we will focus on in future.

Looking ahead we are hoping to hold another vintage fashion online auction and dates will be forthcoming. If you have any items that you think would be suitable please contact Emma on 01267233456 or emma@peterfrancis.co.uk.
