A GOOD QUALITY EARLY 19TH CENTURY ORMULU MIRROR OR PICTURE FRAME, in standing form with rear support, the frame copiously cast engraved and chaste with gambolling cherubs and a reclining young woman, scrolled corners and ribband pediments. English C1820. (11" H x 9" W). Provenance:- consigned by a member of the Nash family and reputedly a gift to John Nash from George IV. (John Nash, 1752-1835 born London, architect, latterly to George IV, designer of Buckingham Palace, Marble Arch and many other notable buildings. Designed Aberaeron and the property Llanerchaeron (now N.T) when he lived in Wales). |
